2019 US IPSC NATIONALS
The 2019 US IPSC Nationals has come and gone. I was hoping to go back to back on the Open Division National Junior Title, but IPSC changed their age limit for Junior competitors from 18 to 21. This did give me a new goal though… To beat Christian Sailer. With him being a GM, 19 years old, and an all around animal on the range, I knew it was a long shot, but not impossible. I actually beat him on 4 stages. And zero’d 1 stage completely. So I know that if I would have kept my head clear, and stayed focused, I would have been closer to achieving that goal. But to finish just 9.34% away from him… I’m good with that.
Overall, the match was GREAT! With my rocky start of zeroing my second stage of the day, I knew I had to get a grip… and QUICK! Day 1 was all around rocky. It was almost as if my 2018 US IPSC Match was coming right back to me. I started out rough, but ended strong. Leaving every stage behind me and just focusing on the one in front of me was how I approached day #2. And it went well. Called shots, made good hits, and moved fluid through the final courses.
Now with this being my 3rd match in what I like to call my “Road to World Shoot”, I feel that I added good points to my total. Now to focus on what I need to work on, and make sure I head into USPSA Nationals with a clear head. But before that, I have the 2019 ProAm Championship approaching. Which will be a nice fun day of dropping steel! And then I have the 2019 GA State Championship.
